Newbouldia Laevis: About, Traditional Medicinal Uses and Researches

Newbouldia laevis is a small tree that grows in regions of wooden savannah and deciduous forest of West Africa (Ofokansi, 2013). The plant is widely used in African traditional medicine.
It is commonly known as the “African Border Tree” or the “fence tree.” It is locally known in Nigerian in various languages. In Igbo, it is called Ogirisi; in Hausa it is called Aduruku and in Yoruba, it is called Akoko. It is also known as the ‘fertility tree’.
