No fatalities reported but four in critical condition and ages of victims range from 16 to 48, Chicago Police Department says
A number of people were shot early on Sunday at a house on Chicago ’s South Side, police said.
The Chicago Police Department confirmed on Sunday morning that 13 people had been shot, with the incident unfolding at three different locations. There are as yet no fatalities.
Four are in critical condition in hospital, the rest are in stable condition, CPD’s Fred Waller said in a press briefing. The ages of the victims range from 16 to 48, he said.
It is understood that more than 100 police officers attended the incident at a party.
Police said the shooting took place on 57th and May Streets. That location corresponds to a residential block near a park in Englewood.
A 57-year-old resident of the neighbourhood told the Chicago Tribune that he had been woken up by at least five gunshots.
