Popular host of Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has recounted his chilling experience at the hands of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The TV presenter making his intro monologue on Rubbin Minds, narrated how he and few friends were targeted by policemen in Abuja on November 14, 2005, six days after he was called to the Nigerian Bar.
According to Ebuka, an unknown man in mufti suspected to be an armed robber, stopped the car he was driving alongside two of his friends in the Wuse Zone 1 area of the FCT and as he sped off after being intimated, the officer chased after the car he was in.
After a hot car chase, Ebuka and his friends arrived at a police checkpoint around Olusegun Obasanjo way only to be ambushed by six to ten policemen who shot at their car sporadically.
According to the media personality, there was no casualty but one of his friends suffered a bullet wound to the shoulder.
He concluded by stating that despite the disbandment of the notorious SARS unit, peaceful protesters are still being murdered by police and thugs, and until the government’s actions match their words, the trust will continually be eroded.
